Ayurvedic Detoxification
PANCHAKARMA
AYURVEDA provides a complete system of healing to address a multitude of imbalances that have progressed into possible chronic conditions. The specific therapies of Panchakarma (Ayurvedic 5-fold detoxification methods) not only help to immediately alleviate symptoms but also aid the body in creating the optimal conditions for healing to occur.
There are likely to be many steps on this journey towards health and balance. It is important to approach this not as a quick fix, but with an understanding that you are establishing new healthy routines and lifestyle adjustments that will benefit you for the rest of your life. As a result, it is best to take this healing journey one step at a time. Too many changes made too rapidly often do not last. Making changes one small step at a time is the best way to ensure that the lifestyle changes will be lasting.
“Because we cannot scrub our inner body we need to learn a few skills to help cleanse our tissues, organs, and mind. This is the art of Ayurveda.”
― Sebastian Pole
PanchaKarma (PK) is a 5 fold cleansing and rejuvenation process used in Ayurveda. Its goal is to promote longevity and health. It is the most transformative experience in the holistic wellness field, where not only the physical is cleansed but the emotional and spiritual components of an individual are included. Energetic and Physical therapies are infused to create a journey of healing for the Rogi, also known as the Panchakarma recipient in Ayurveda. Panchakarma is to be done when the seasons change and whenever the body is showing signs of excessive toxin accumulation, i.e. Doshic aggravation. Chronic conditions also indicate toxin accumulation.
The 3 Main Phases
of Ayurvedic Cleansing + Detoxing
Poorva Karma —> Preparatory Procedures:
In this phase, the body and mine are prepared with a variety of treatments to help dislodge deep-seated toxins in the body, redirecting them to be properly eliminated. Internal and external oelation, daily cleansing practices of Dinacharya are assigned, an elimination diet, herbal protocol and fasting methods gradually introduced.Pancha
Pancha Karma —> Detox/Cleansing Protocol:
Pancha means 5 and Karma means action. There are 5 main treatment methods used for detoxification of the body and your practitioner decides which are suitable to be implemented. A specialized diet, herbal oil bath, nasal oiling, gentle laxatives and self administered cleansing enemas are apart of the treatments prescribed
Pashchaath Karma —> Post Therapy Aftercare & Integration:
After such profound protocols are practiced, an aftercare program is specially tailored to integrate new lifestyle changes and its benefits. Dietary regimen, daily routine and current system functioning is re-evaluated by your practitioner before adding or discontinuing any current practices adopted in the PK process.
Signs you need Panchakarma
When the Doshas are out of balance, they can create excess or blocked flow through the body’s energetic and physical channels. Unprocessed, the accumulation that builds is called Ama. This eventually leads to dis-ease. We are no longer in our vibrant state of being.
Ama can come from both mental and environmental factors. Our food choices, metabolic function, pace of living & lifestyle, mental stress and how we are metabolizing our food and emotions all create an imprint on our health, as all aspects of ones being are inter-related.
Panchakarma is concerned with removing ama, restoring the Doshas natural functions in the body and stabilizing metabolic function so the body can maintain homeostatic function, build healthy tissues and have stable energy levels. Panchakarma supports you in cleansing, renewing and resetting your body’s self-healing mechanisms so they are working properly and efficiently.
